The dining hall’s most prominent feature – the funnel-like entrance – makes it visible to visitors even from afar. The would-be-diners are then immediately separated by their respective food choices to streamline the ordering process. Food is moved down from the kitchen upstairs by a food elevator.
The dining hall is separated into two split level floors. The ground floor can be used all year round and natural light is provided by light courtyards that are separated by glass walls from the main room and enable semi-outside eating or provide room for bigger groups.
The upper floor consists of a grass area with seating arrangements that also frame the light courtyards below. Visitors can also see into the kitchen and get a glimpse of the daily routines in a dining hall.
